Meet our spring 2019 EQUIP scholars

Zilan (Blues) Huang

Blues is majoring in Economics and Statistics, and is fascinated by computer storage systems (NAS) and business. He is dedicated to integrating economic theory with statistical analysis to explore practical applications, aiming to develop more efficient storage solutions and robust business strategies.

Xuehui Liu

Xuehui is pursuing a degree in Economics and Statistics. Passionate about business analysis and finance, he is a committee member for business and finance in both the Chinese Students and Scholars Association (CSSA) and the Ascend UC Davis Chapter. Beyond academics, Xuehui is a photography enthusiast who enjoys capturing moments through his lens.

Siddhi Adeshara

Siddhi is an undergraduate student at UC Davis majoring in Mathematical Analytics and Operations Research. She is passionate about using analytics to drive strategic decision-making in business operations. In her free time, she enjoys exploring global geography, reading, and doing pottery.

Rhea Bhatia

Rhea is a third-year undergraduate majoring in Economics with a minor in Technology Management. She is passionate about brand strategy, marketing, and exploring how technology shapes the way we connect. In her free time, she enjoys cooking, reading, and discovering new coffee shops around Davis.

Shantia Laurenz

Shantia is pursuing a major in Managerial Economics. She is passionate about startups and venture capital, and she aims to leverage her skills to forge startups that can create positive social change. In her free time, Shantia enjoys singing, photographing, traveling, hiking, and reading.

Meera Putz

Driven by her love of nature, Meera is passionate about ecological restoration and aspires to lead a habitat restoration non-profit in the future. Meera found her professional calling as President of the Davis Rewilding Society, a student-run native plant club, where she leads a team of officers to enhance on-campus Californian plant biodiversity, educate students about restoration through hands-on experiences, and build community.

Long Long

Long is a data science and economics major and is a member of the university choir. He has also been a mentor to international students through CSSA and worked as a visitor guide at Ullens Art Museum. His experiences have taught him that education extends far beyond textbooks—it involves nurturing imagination, critical thinking, art, music, and an understanding of philosophy.

Libby Oye

As an aspiring entrepreneur in the edtech space, Libby is focused on transforming education by integrating technology and personalized learning experiences. Libby is currently working on developing an AI-powered platform aimed at helping students with learning challenges. They are passionate about creating accessible, interactive math lessons and ensuring every student receives the support they need to succeed.

Joseph Dalessi

Joseph is pursuing a degree in Economics with a particular interest in the field of energy economics—a field in which he has significant experience, having previously worked as an analyst for an advisory firm serving the California energy market. Joseph is passionate about economic justice, market efficiency, and the study of resource allocation. He's also interested in further sharpening his programming and data analysis skills.

Helen Januar

Passionate about the intersection between design and business industries, Helen is a first-year undergraduate at UC Davis pursuing a double major in Design and Managerial Economics. She currently interns for a seamstress and fashion designer, as well as is the founder of a virtual game clothing business.
