Meet our spring 2019 EQUIP scholars

Yenyun (Sebrina) Huang

Sebrina is a third-year Computer Engineering major with a minor in Statistics and a member of the University Honors Program. Her academic interests include digital systems, hardware design, circuit analysis, and data driven analysis.

Ruihan Luo

Ruihan is a first-year Applied Chemistry major.

Lucy Niu

Lucy is a first-year student majoring in Managerial Economics and plans to minor in Accounting. She is interested in finance and consulting and hopes to pursue a career in business intelligence consulting or private wealth management.

Navneet Malhi

Navneet is a fourth-year Computer Science major exploring how technology can be used to solve real-world problems. Through coursework and projects, she has developed an interest in software development and improving user experiences.

Mia Ly

MJ is a first-year Data Science major with a strong interest in user data protection and responsible artificial intelligence development. Her experience includes promoting STEM education, completing information technology pre-apprenticeships, and designing websites.

Joshua Mariano

Joshua is a first-year Business major with a minor in Public Health. He is passionate about the intersection of healthcare and business and is motivated by creating sustainable impact in underserved communities. Through EQUIP, Joshua hopes to expand his leadership skills, grow professionally, and connect with peers who share similar values. In his free time, he enjoys hiking, playing basketball, and spending time with friends.

Jonah Kunis

Jonah is pursuing a major in Managerial Economics with minors in Computer Science and Accounting. As an aspiring entrepreneur, he has launched multiple business ventures including a summer surface cleaning company serving over sixty clients and a photography business focused on professional and real estate work.

Jingyi (Jennie) Qian

Jennie is a junior majoring in Community and Regional Development with a minor in Precision Agriculture. Her interests include sustainability, community engaged work, and using technology to address environmental and social challenges. She has experience as an environmental justice intern and currently volunteers at the Student Farm Market Garden, supporting sustainable food systems and learning about food insecurity.

Jaspreet Japra

Jaspreet is a third-year Mechanical Engineering major and transfer student at UC Davis. He came to Davis with clear goals including strengthening his professional network, sharpening communication skills, building technical projects, and improving his confidence in professional settings.

Derek Hernandez

Derek is a third-year student, double-majoring in History and Music with a minor in Professional Writing. He is currently completing a history honors thesis examining the success of the Montreal Protocol, with a focus on collective action and the way crises are marketed to the public.
