Inventopia, a Davis startup incubator launched by 2008 Big Bang! winner Tim Keller, recently landed a $100K city loan to add specialized space needed by local entrepreneurs and new ventures. Its newest tenant, Peakb, develops naturally derived blue food coloring and was founded by UC Davis Professor Justin Siegel. Read the article>

The UC Davis Big Bang! Business Competition helps aspiring and early-stage entrepreneurs to collaborate, develop and test business visions and plans. Meet our 2020 competition's 16 finalist teams—and view their two-minute pitch videos.

Our 16 finalists rose to the top of the 113 teams that entered this year’s competition, the greatest number in Big Bang! history. The 2020 Big Bang! was open to the public and drew teams from across UC Davis, as well as from the Sacramento region and throughout California, the U.S. and the world.

Reducing Pneumonia-Related Mortality in COVID-19 Patients

NeVap Inc., founded by 2014 Big Bang! winner Benjamin Wang, created a novel respiratory device that is helping curb the rate of infection of bacterial pneumonia in COVID-19 patients. The Little Bang! Poster Competition series offers three rounds of competition awarding up to a combined total of $18,000 in available prize money. Prize money increases as the series progresses.

Designed to help enrolled students at all levels to define their business idea and communicate it concisely using a poster, Little Bang! supports students early on their entrepreneurial journey.

Big Bang! Rules and Tools

The annual Big Bang! Business Competition provides a forum for innovators across California to collaborate, develop and test business ideas—and compete for cash prizes. 

Big Bang! launches in October and ends with finalist presentations and an awards ceremony in May.

Big Bang! workshops offer teams the opportunity to develop and hone their business concept. Participating in workshops is not required but is encouraged.
