Leaders for the Future Fellow
Pierre Gianferrara
Pierre Gianferrara is a postdoctoral researcher in Neurobiology, Physiology and Behavior who collaborates with engineers and clinicians to build computational models of sensorimotor learning, based on behavioral and neurophysiological data. In his research he seeks to unravel the neural mechanisms of motor control across healthy populations and patient populations. He wants to develop new gamified neurorehabilitation training programs to boost the recovery of lost cognitive and motor skills in patients suffering from traumatic brain injuries. Before coming to UC Davis, he completed a Ph.D. in cognitive neuroscience at Carnegie Mellon University, where he designed computational simulations of human learning in video games. He also gained invaluable leadership experience as the president of a graduate LGBTQ+ student organization and as part of CMU’s University Leadership Student Advisory Council. In his free time, he enjoys fitness, hiking, and playing the piano with friends.
