Bio

Ofelya Baghdasaryan

Ofelya Baghdasaryan is a fourth-year Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Biomedical Engineering. Her research focuses on engineering non-replicating, metabolically active bacterial and mammalian cells as next-generation live therapeutics, offering transformative potential in the treatment of diseases. Passionate about finding solutions to eradicate cancer, Ofelya is determined to contribute to a future where cancer is no longer a threat. She holds a B.S. in Biochemistry from the University of Oklahoma, where she completed a thesis on characterizing ovarian cancer spheroids under various photothermal treatments. Outside the lab, Ofelya is an Armenian language teacher at St. James Armenian Saturday School in Sacramento, bringing her leadership and communication skills to inspire the next generation of Armenians.
