Marie Klein is a postdoctoral researcher in the Department of Plant Sciences at UC Davis. She studies adaptation mechanisms in the tree species Populus trichocarpa to develop drought-resistant bioenergy crops, aiming to reduce reliance on non-renewable energy. She holds a bachelor's and master's of science from the University of Bonn, Germany, and worked at the Max Planck Institute for Biology before beginning her doctoral studies. She has conducted research in West Africa and the Philippines, focusing on soil carbon, drought stress, and plant-pathogen interactions. Marie loves the outdoors and is committed to advancing climate-resilient crops for a sustainable future.
