Marie Klein
Marie Klein is a Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Plant Sciences' Taylor lab, where she studies adaptation mechanisms in the tree species Populus trichocarpa to develop drought-resistant bioenergy crops. Striving to reduce reliance on non-renewable energy, she uses high-throughput phenotyping and bioinformatics to investigate phenotypic diversity and genetic traits. She holds a Bachelor's and Master's from the University of Bonn, Germany, and she worked at the Max Planck Institute for Biology. She has conducted research in West Africa and the Philippines, focusing on soil carbon, drought stress, and plant-pathogen interactions. Marie loves the outdoors and is committed to advancing climate-resilient crops for a sustainable future.
