Bio

Lauren Meckler

Lauren Meckler is a Ph.D. student in the Department of Psychology. She studies how neural biomarkers that are implicated in the onset of postpartum depression fluctuate throughout pregnancy and postpartum using a unique primate model. Before graduate school, she earned a B.S. in Neuroscience, during which she worked on projects developing an invertebrate model of White-Nose Syndrome, describing bat and fungi biodiversity in rural Panama with the Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute, evaluating sexual selection in songbirds, and improving captive breeding efforts for endangered grouse, among others. In her free time, she is a volunteer bat rehabilitator and hobby aerialist.
