Juanita Gil, Ph.D.
Juanita Gil, Ph.D., is a postdoctoral scholar in Plant Pathology who studies the genetic diversity of the fungal pathogen Botrytis cinerea and its relationship to fungicide resistance. Her research focuses on California's ornamental and vegetable industries and provides a foundation for more effective disease management and alternative pathogen-control strategies in nurseries and greenhouses.
Before joining UC Davis, Juanita conducted postdoctoral research at Michigan State University and Corteva Agriscience, where she used genomic approaches to study pathogenic fungi and microbiomes. She holds B.Sc. degrees in Biotechnology and Toxicology, an M.Sc. in Computational Biology, and a Ph.D. in Plant Pathology. She enjoys multicultural environments, reading, and listening to music.
